A judge is invited along to comment on each image and to award marks out of 20 for each entry. These marks are totalled throughout the year and there is a prize awarded each year for the winner and runner up in each category.

Should the total accumulated marks result in there being a tie for the winner, or the runner-up, then the results of each competition will be analysed and the member who receives the highest number of 20s during the year, will be deemed the winner or runner-up. If the number of 20s is tied, then the highest number of 19s will be the winner or runner-up.

The winner and Runner up in each competition in the current year are not eligible to win in the following year.
